The growth of GTIIT needs a world-class email system as one of the key strands in our informatisation strategic vision. After a comprehensive feasibility study on a diverse range of options, we chose the Microsoft Office 365 Global system to be the new GTIIT email system.

Why?

Since the start, GTIIT has been sharing the STU email system which is the Microsoft Office 365 domestic version. However, this shared system is struggling to meet our growing needs in an international community.

Due to the multiple features of the Microsoft Office 365 Global version in facilitating online collaboration (which are unavailable in the domestic version), many Chinese mainland international education organizations have adopted this superior version for business needs. The IT Department has completed a security assessment with the Technion CIS team, for using Office 365 global tenant as an email platform, is confident that GTIIT can now utilize this offering in the manner of other Sino-foreign universities.

What to do before my email account is upgraded?

There is no need for you to do anything with existing emails, calendar appointments, contacts, files in OneDrive, and files in two SharePoint sites:

  • The central document repository (https://stumail.sharepoint.cn/sites/GTIIT-IT Staff only)
  • The ERP project repository (https://stumail.sharepoint.cn/sites/GTIIT-ERP Staff only)

However, if you have created a site (other than the two listed above) to share files with others by using the SharePoint in the incumbent email system, you will need to synchronize all of those files to your computer as a backup.

What to do after migration?

Access to your email and OneDrive will be available at HTTP://MAIL.GTIIT.EDU.CN, but you will need to reconfigure your computer and/or mobile device for the new system - please refer to the user guides on the left navigation bar. Once the migration is complete, you will receive an email describing the reconfiguration process.

As always, should you run into any difficulty or have any questions regarding the migration, the IT Department will be only too happy to assist you.
